New MacBook Air, MacBook Pro due in June with unchanged designs

Post Image

Apple (AAPL) is reportedly submitting quotation requests to supply chain companies in Taiwan for components related to upcoming refreshed MacBook Air and MacBook Pro computers. Digitimes cites unnamed supply chain sources in its report, and claims the new refreshed models will not see any major design changes compared to Apple’s current laptop lineup. Will they be as “disappointing” as the iPhone 4S? Apple sold 12.88 million notebook PCs in 2011 and 9.78 million laptops through the first three quarters this year.

Mark Cuban: Nokia Lumia 920 ‘crushes’ the iPhone 5

Post Image

In the eyes of outspoken entrepreneur Mark Cuban, the battle for smartphone supremacy has been fought and won… by Nokia (NOK). While hosting an AMA session on Reddit — a series of posts where the original poster instructs Reddit users to “Ask Me Anything” — Cuban, who famously sold Broadcast.com to Yahoo (YHOO) for around $5 billion at the height of the dot-com boom, was asked what kind of laptop he uses. “I have a MacBook Air, but am trying the new Acer with Windows 8 [laptop],” wrote Cuban. “I really, really like Windows 8 on my phone. I have [two] phones. First is Samsung (005930) the [second] was an iPhone 5. The new Nokia with windows replaced my iPhone 5.” When asked to elaborate,

Post Image

Predicting the future when it comes to Apple (AAPL) has been fairly easy lately thanks to the company’s component suppliers in the Far East, which have been leaking like sieves for years. Even still, analysts love playing the guessing game when it comes to Apple’s product roadmap. Berenberg Capital Markets analyst Adnaan Ahmad recently offered his predictions for Apple’s coming year, and there are definitely a few reaches to say the least. First up, Ahmad thinks Apple will launch an entry-level iPhone in 2013. This is a perennial guess that is made each year by various analysts who think Apple needs to participate in the perpetual low-end land grab in order to grow, but it hasn’t happened yet. “We think that it

Post Image

Microsoft (MSFT) announced pricing for its upcoming Surface Pro tablet last week and tech bloggers’ heads immediately exploded. The Surface Pro — Microsoft’s first own-brand Windows 8 offering — will start at $899 for a unit with 64GB of internal storage. That price includes a stylus, an accessory that will be appreciated by some potential users but certainly not all, but it does not include a Touch Cover or a Type Cover keyboard. Microsoft’s unique keyboard cover accessories are one of a few key differentiating factors that help set Surface tablets apart, so many viewed this omission as yet another strike against the Surface Pro. We’re now in the early stages of a major transition at Microsoft, and early sales of
